Battles & Events Of The Texas Revolution Timeline

  • Austins Jailing

    The Mexican Government thought that Stephen F Austin was supporting Texas in getting its freedom from Mexico. The Government did not want Texas to become free so they threw Austin in jail in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. They also did not like the fact that Austin was bringing former Americans to Texas. This started off the revolution because the Mexican government threw one of the people advocating for their freedom from Mexico and that made the Texans mad at them.
  • Battle Of Gonzales

    In 1935 a small 'town' of american colonists refused to give up a small cannon that the Mexican army gave them for protection against the Native Americans that still lived in Texas. The commander of the Mexican army heard news of this and got mad because that cannon could be used against his army. When the Mexican army attacked them they fought and won against them for the first time. This really showed that they could fight against the Mexican army and win because they had determination to win
  • Battle of the Alamo

    A Mexican army with thousands of soldiers went and stormed the Alamo. The Texan army was vastly outnumbered they fought very hard for thirteen days but in the end they lost and everyone was killed. The battle of the Alamo became a large symbol of the Texas revolution because all of those men died a very heroic death for their independence and freedom.
  • Signing Of Texas Declaration of Independence

    The Texan Declaration of independence was a big part of the Texas Revolution because it was when the Texans finally declared independence from Mexico after fighting for it for all these years.
  • The Runaway Scrape

    The Runaway Scrape is when Texans had to flee their homes because Santa Anna was attempting to conquer Texas back to make it a part of Mexico again. When Sam Houston went back to Texas after he heard of the fall of the Alamo he ordered all residents of the area near the Rio Grande to evacuate and go to a new place to stay.
  • Battle of San Jacinto

    The battle of San Jacinto was a surprise attack on the Mexican army where the Texans had a huge advantage of the Mexican army not being prepared for the attack and they won and captured Santa Anna which was a huge win for the Texan army who needed it to win their independence from Mexico.
  • Battle of Coleto Creek

    The battle of Coleto Creek happened as the last battle of the goliad campaign and they were not prepared for this because of the land so they had no protection so the Mexican army was able to surround them and then they surrendered to the army.
  • Massacre of Goliad

    After the battle of Coleto Creek the Texan army who surrendered, after being promised freedom, were all killed by the Mexican army in an execution style way. Even though they had been promised to be released
