    Conflicts Between Israeli & Arabs
    Israel & its neighbors had a series of wars which led to the expansion of Israel which controls more land now than it used to. As as result, another source of tension & conflict in the region happened as many Palestinian Arabs started living under Israeli control.
  • The Six Day War

    The Six Day War
    Egypt demanded the removal of the UN's troops from Gaza & the Sinai Peninsula causing Egyptian troops to close off Israelis route to the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aqaba. Expecting an Arab attack, Israel striked first. Israel took control of the Golan Heights, Gaza Strip, Sinai Peninsula, West Bank, & East Jerusalem.
  • Yom Kippur War

    Yom Kippur War
    Egypt & Syria launched a surprise attack against Israel determined to win their territory back. At first Arab troops made gains in the war but then with U.S support, the Israeli forces regrouped & pushed back the enemies armies. Both sides agreed to a cease-fire after weeks of fighting.
  • A Peace Agreement

    A Peace Agreement
    Egypt wanted peace with Israel. Jimmy Carter, the U.S president, & Menachem Beging, Israelis prime minister, came to Camp David to faciliate this peace. Egypt recognized Israel & he returned the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt. This ended 30 years of conflict between them.
  • Intifada

    Intifada
    Palestinians dissatisfaction of Israeli's position boiled over into a revolt called the intifada. Widespread street violence between Palestinian youths & Israeli troops were started by Palestinians.
