  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A riot between the British troops and the
    British subjects.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    A group of colonial Patriots, disguised as Mohawk Indians, boarded the three ships and threw 342 chests of tea overboard.This was consequence of the Britsh adding taxes on to the tea that was shipped to the colonies.
  • Boston Port Act

    This Act closed the harbor until the lost tea was paid for.
  • Intolerable Act

    It required British subjects to allow British soldiers into their homes.
  • First Continental Congress

    It was held in Philadelphia to determine how the colonies should react to what, from their viewpoint, seemed to pose an alarming threat to their rights and liberties.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    This was the first military battle of the American Revolutionary War.
  • Continental Congress

    The Continental Congree appointed George Washington as Camander-In-Chief of the Continental Army.
  • Bunker Hill

    Breed's Hill was the location where the British attacked the Americans and at the end it divided the male population into Patriots and Loyalist camps.
  • Common Sense

    Thomas encouraged citizens to gain independence from Great Britain.

    This treaty ended the American Revolutionary War between the British and the Americans and gained American independence.

    The U.S. Constitution listed the first ten amendments and establishes the rules and seperate powers of the three branches of the federal government.

    The Northwest Ordinance had an importance larger that establishing a formal procedure for transforming territories into states. It presented a sharp break with the assumption behind European expansion into the western hemisphere.

    Contained the first ten amendments to the Constitution. It was created to serve and protect the nalural rights of liberty and property of citizens.

    Spain allowed the use of the Mississippi River and New Orleans for United States trading.

    John Jay was sent to Britain to solve issues with British seizing American ships and presence in U.S. western frontier.

    It was a conflict between Americans and the British where as the Leopards (British) attacked the Chesapeake (Americans).

    The Embargo Act turned out to be impractical and failed. It stopped all exports of American goods and prohibited American ships from leaving for foreign ports.

  • Treaty of Ghent

    The Treaty of Ghent was signed before battles were even fought in the War of 1812. It was essentially a peace treaty stating that things will go back to the way they were before the war even began.

    This was the final battle of the War of 1812. It was a battle to essentually protect the land the Americans had acquired from the Louisiana Purchase.

    The Louisiana Purchase marked the beginning of a period of rapid expansion in U.S. history. The big issue was that Constitution did not contain any provisions regarding the purchase of territory.
  • Missouri Compromise

    It prohibited slavery in the Louisiana Territory north of the parallel 36 degrees 30'north except within the boundaries of the proposed state of Missouri.
