    The First Olympic Games
    The first Olympics was first held in Olympia. It began as a part of a religious festival in honor of the Zeus. It started out with a footrace as the first sport; the prize for winning the Olympics back then was a wreath of olive leaves!

    Persian Wars Begin

    Persian Wars Begin
    The city-state of Miletus rebelled against Persian, the Miletus asked Athens to help, and Athens agreed. Athenians traveled by sea to Sardis (a Persian controlled city-state). Persians went to Athens to get revenge. When they met on the battlefield, Athenians were greatly outnumbered but attacked anyway... and in the end, ATHENS WON. Persia went home but 19 years Persia came back and fought, but Athens got help from Sparta. Then the Greeks and Persians fought at sea. In the end, the Greeks won!

    Parthenon was built, among other educational and religious buildings. Many of the ideas came from a smart man named Pericles. Many were in the Golden age such as: art, theater, dance, and singing.

    One of Socrates´s best students was Aristotle. He started his own school in Athens called Lyceum. And since his father was a doctor, his father taught him how to take notice of a person´s symptoms and understand what made a person sick. Which made Aristotle an even better philospher.

    Alexander died so quickly he had no time to pick an heir, on his death bed he said ¨to the strongest¨. So it was never decided who would be ruler. But people spread the culture of the Greeks just like ruler would´ve.

    Although Alexandria is in Egypt, it was a model Greek town. So in that case, they had a Greek library. It was said that they had more then 700,000 scrolls! For centuries it was the center of learning, until it was destroyed in a series of robberies, fires, and foreign invasions.

    At 20 years old, Alexander became king after his dad was executed. In Alexander´s lifetime he conquered most of the virtually known world. It´s ironic about how a man called so strong and with title Alexander the Great died so easily. On Alexander´s way to Babylon, where he was going to make plans for new projects, he caught a fever and died.

    Socrates was one of the most famous philospher. Socrates was never interested about how the earth came to be like the others were. Socrates was more interested in how humans behave and what the meaning of life was. Socrates often went to the marketplace and asked people questions, trying to get them to a point where they realize something (Socrates method). Eventually, people excused Socrates of teaching the young men of Athens bad things so he was sentenced to death by drinking Hemlock poison.

    The Athenians and Persians fought on a battle field 26 miles away from Athens. When Athens won, a messenger ran 26 miles to Athens to deliver the good news. and he exclaimed "Rejoice, we conquer!¨ and then died.
