    The American School for the Deaf is the oldest permanent school for the Deaf in the United States. In West Hartford Connecticut it was founded by Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet, Mason Cogswell, and Laurent Clerc.
  • Kentucky School for the Deaf

    Kentucky School for the Deaf was established as the Kentucky Asylum for the Tuition of Deaf and Dumb. It is located in Danville, Kentucky. It was the first state-supported school of its kind in the United States and the first school for the deaf west of the Allegheny Mountains.
