  • Birth of Hitler

    -Born in Braunau am Inn on the Austro-German border.
    Historical Significance:
    He was born and the clock until World War 2 began.
  • Hitler's Father, Alois, Passes Away

    Hitler's father now dead, there would be no more arguing over what Adolf's career choice should be. The family was left much wealth from Alois.
    Cause and Effect:
    This is what caused Adolf to finally pursue becoming an artist. This lead to Adolf going to Vienna and being exposed to the anti-semitism.
  • Death of Adolf's Mother

    Klara dies of cancer.
    Cause and Effect:
    Adolf's mother dying causes him to begin the sad and depressed part of his life.
  • Adolf Moves to Vienna

    ------Turning Point----------
    Plans on attending Art School, gets rejected twice. Gives up on his dream of being an artist
    Cause and Effect:
    Due to not being able to attend art school and giving up on his dream, he was searching for a purpose in life. He also had to live in poverty which he hated as his superiority complex developed around now.
  • Adolf enlists with the German Forces for WW1

    Not wanting to aid Austria-Hungary (as well as being rejected by them), he enlists for Germany. Medical checks are sparse and he is accepted.
    Historical Significance:
    Hitler was given a purpose in life, somethimg major which he aligned his interests with. Which happened to be war and a war-nut with a superiority complex usually doesn't bode well.
  • Socialists in Germany Defeated

    Hitler was helped by having a continued purpose, and now was becoming radical in expressing his views.
    Historical Significance:
    He was almost arrested, but he had offered to help sniff out the socialists which kept him free. Being arrested could have changed his life because of the fact that he would have been stuck in a jail cell instead of out learning how to be a radical in Munich
  • Hitler Elected as Nazi Leader

    ---------Turning Point-------
    Became party chairman, won with only one vote opposing. The committee dissolved and he became sole leader with absolute power. Historical Significance:
    His rise to becoming a racist, anti-semetic world figure began with this as he had finally thought of himself a somebody. Up until this point he had thought of himself as a nobody which is why he had been chasing everyone's tails.
  • Hitler Sentenced to 5 Years Prison for Treason

    The Nazis (lead by Hitler) attempted to overthrow the German government(s), but failed. Hitler and co. were thrown in prison for 5 years for treason afterwards.
    Cause and Effect:
    Failing an attempt to overthrow caused a loss of followers for the Nazis, as well as a long time to re-think Adolf's ideals. He wrote a book while in jail, and upon release a lot of pent-up feelings would result for extreme action from Hitler.
  • Holocaust Begins

    The systematic genocide of Jewish people began. Quickly built up to deaths, at first was mere camps and segregation.
    Ethical Dimension:
    Over 6 million people died during the holocaust. The sheer brutality of the holocaust really showed how awful fascism was. All of the deaths during the holocausts were inhumaine such as posioning the Jewish folk, mass shootings, mis-treatment in concentration camps, etc.
  • Hitler Becomes Germany's Dictator

    ---------Turning Point----------
    Named chancellor in 1933, now wins a presidential election because he vows to fight communism.
    Continuity and Change:
    With this presidential win, he now has full control of the country. It also showed the broken-ness of the German system, because he was chancellor before the prior president's death he was able to appoint himself as the new Fuhrer which have FULL control of all aspects. Most current systems of Government attempt to avoid things like this.
  • Hitler Declares War on the U.S

    A few days after Japan bombed Pearl Harbour, Hitler declared war on the United States.
    Ethical Dimension:
    Hitler decided to 'kick the man while he's down' with this move. The United States was already in dismay when Japan attacked them, but now the U.S was getting pressurized to aid the western Allied front.
  • Hitler Survives Assassination Attempt

    Adolf escapes while injured from his headquarters during a bombing on the HQ.
    Historical Significance:
    He was kept alive after yet another brush with death. The allies were also getting closer and closer to finishing the fight.
  • Hitler Commits Suicide

    To avoid being captured by Soviets/Allies, he shoots himself in the head.
    Historical Significance:
    Without a leader and no real power hierarchy, the German people become 'liberated'. The Allied forces now controlled Berlin and the entirety of Germany. The second World War had come to a close.
