  • Adolf Hitler is Born

    Adolf Hitler is Born
Adolf Hitler was born into the world on 4/20/1889 at Braunau am Inn in Austria to parents Alois and Klara. Hitler also was born into a family that shaped his behaviors. His father was abusive to both his wife and his children. In Mein Kampf, Hitler said that he honored his father but he loved his mother. His father was abusive, which probably shaped his personality and made him the angry and cruel man he was.

    James Naismith invents Basketball
In 1891 James Naismith invented the sport of basketball in Springfield, Massachusetts, although there is dispute over the exact location. The first game of basketball was played without a backboard, and the object was to shoot a ball into a large basket. It was a YMCA class that has turned into one of the biggest sports markets in the world. Naismith, to the surprise of many, was actually Canadian.

  • Adolf Hitler's father, Alois, Dies

    Adolf Hitler's father, Alois, Dies
Adolf Hitler's father died on January 3, 1903. This is significant because Hitler acquired some of his "dark side" when his father died. His father was a strict man, had been married 3 times. Alois' name was not originally Hitler. He changed his name to a variation of his stepfather's name. Hitler did not love his father, but he honored him.

He became homeless there, and read the philosophies of Hegel, Fichte, and many more. By reading all these works, he gained his racist and anti-semitic views.

    Adolf Hitler's mom, Klara, dies
On December 21, 1907, Adolf Hitler's mother, Klara, died in Urfahr, Austria. Hitler's mother was frequently beaten by her husband, Alois, until he died in 1903. We can't fully assess Hitler's emotions, but we can assume Adolf was traumatized by his mother dying so young. Klara died of breast cancer.
