being rejected by the Austrian army for being too weak, Hitler volunteers for Germany. With a war happening, medical examinations were not a strict and Hitler is accepted. Hitler was a dispatch runner, taking messages back and forth from the command staff in the rear to the fighting units near the battlefield. -

Hitler was wounded in the leg by a shell fragment during the Battle of the Somme. He was hospitalized in Germany. It was his first time away from the front after two years of war. Following his recovery, he was assigned to light duty in Munich. -

Hitler went to a meeting of the German Workers' Party, He listened to a speech on economics. after one of the founders of the German Workers' Party, Anton Drexler, gave hitler a pamphlet and told him to read it. He was delighted to find the pamphlet, written by Drexler, reflected political thinking much like his own - building a strong nationalist, pro-military, anti-Semitic party made up of working class people. in this disorganized party, Hitler saw opportunity. -

The German Workers' Party consisted mainly of an executive committee which had seven members, including Hitler. they tried to find new members but few people ever came. they used propaganda posters as well as people with a distaste for the peace brought on by the Treaty of Versailles. Probably trying to avoid being captured by Soviet troops, Hitler kills himself. He commits suicide by shooting himself in the head. it was said that he died with a picture of his mother in his pocket.
