    Archduke Franz Ferdinand assasinated
    This assasination was a key event to the start of WW1. Serbia were the main culprits in this assasination, as they supplyed guns to the assasin; Gavrilo Princip. Ferdinand was driving to the city hall when a bomb hit his car, just to bounce off and blow up the car behind them. in fear they sped off, only to be assasinated later that day when two gun shots hit him in his chest. his wife was also killed.

    Kaiser William II gives uncondishinal support for Austria and Hungary
    willem pledged his country to the support of Austria/Hungary what ever they might do in responce to the killing of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. thispledge was made due to the long allyship with those countries Germany had.

    Austria being outraged by the assasination of their duke hatched a plan to invade Serbia with their allies Hungary. Germany who was also allied with Austria was egging them on to do it which countries like Great Britain were afraid that the warmight spread all around Europe. When Russia got word of the forechosen war they tried (being Serbias allies) to stop Austria from fighting. However Austria started the war. in responce to this Russia moved in too defend Serbia. This started WW1

    when Austria/Hungary declared war on serbia Russia stepped in to help Serbia. Germany being allies with Austria/Hungary had to step in when this war outbroke to honor the friendship and agreement. this had Germany on the front line waging war against Russia and Serbia.

    Australia being allied with Britain had to step in when Britain waged war on Germany. Britain needed to get Germany out of Belgium. So they gave them a choice, either get out of Belgium, or they would invade. Britain waited but Germany did not leave and when the commands were given England started a war with Germany. this was Austrialias first involvement in WW1

    the battle of Marne started beacause Germany tried to invade paris. however the french and their allies (Britain and Australia) withstood this attack and fought back. this war only went on for 7 days and ended with the allies over throwing the German army.

    When Australia heard of this campaign yound men wanted in, they thought they would come back war heros but really the would die in Gallipoli. over 200 men died in this battle, the allies were unorginized. they were given mixed orders which just confused them. whe the call for retreat was issued the turks shot the allies down as they tried to get back the the ships.

But nobody wanted to sign up to be killed, so conscription was introduced which meant that if you were called to war you had to go. they first tryed to get people by useing the classic "We need you" but that just wasn't pulling the numbers they needed so they had to stop looking for volintary and start just making people go.

They felt as if Germany was pushing them into this war. they had recieved word that Germany wanted to start a war with them and they thought this war would damage their spirit as a nation however they knew it had to happen.

This was a ceace fireto stop the war. it was first signeedd by Turkey and then signed by Austria and hungry. when Germany signed the page the war ended and the fighting stopped.On the 28th of June 1919 the Treaty of Versaillies was signed. This was a formal treaty to stop war and hope there is never another one. ther were over 37 million casualties in WW1
