    Function of Ramadan
    During the month of Ramadan, most Muslims fast from dawn to sunset with no food or water. Before sunrise many Muslims have the Suhur or predawn meal. At sunset families and friends gather for Iftar which is the meal eaten by Muslims to break the fast. Many Muslims begin the meal by eating dates as the Prophet used to do.

    In some countries such as Palestine, Syria, Yemen and more are unable to break their fast with food like we are able to in Canada. Each year depending on the moon we determine when Ramadan will start which is usually about 11 days earlier than the previous year.

    More people are developing different meal plans and diets such as, keto diet, paleo diet and more. Some of these diets include not eating for a certain amount of time because of not being hungry, similar to fasting because we don't eat for a period of time which gives our bodies rest, time, and regeneration. What food we are exposed to changes what is eaten after were done fasting. In muslim countries more fresh food but in Canada, fast food, processed food...

    Some people are confused as to why we fast without food and water, and each year we try to explain why, how.. but some people simply weren't aware of our reasonings. Some people see it as a starving perspective as in we are starving ourselves with no purpose.
