  • Gutierrez-Magee Expedition

    Jose Gutierrez de Lara and Augustus Magee's filibuster expedition into Texas is stopped by the Spanish Army near the Medina River. The Mexican Republican Army of the North, led by Jose Gutierrez de Lara, is defeated by the Spanish Army in a skirmish, known today as the Battle of Medina. Though defeated, this expedition encouraged others to fight for independence.
