World War II (known as the Great Patriotic War by Russia) was from 1941-1945.Fought by the USSR and the Nazis, allowed Stanlin to encourage nationalism and build loyalty to the Soviet state. Russia was attacked by a Western power but yet again Russia won the war!!!

This was a "war" between the U.S and the Russia. It wasn't really a war, it was when the US and the Russia had the Ams Race, Space race, and the creation of nuclear weapons. The reason it is called the Cold War was because the "war" was never violent. (P.S: It had nothing to do with the weather!)
