  • US aquires Alaska from Russia for $7.2 million

    The US aquiring Alaska was a good move. Alaska has a lot of oil and we could use that to our advantage. We also gained another state so now we have more power over more people
  • 15th Amendment

    This amendment has allowed people of a different race to vote and has gotten rid of discrimination.
  • Civil Rights Act

    The Civil Rights Act has made a huge difference in the world. It has changed the world in many ways because it has combined whites and blacks. We used to have whites and blacks water fountains, now we all share one. Without this act, the world would be a difficult place for me to live in.
  • President Grover Cleveland accepted the Statue of Liberty for the United States

    The Statue of Liberty has represented freedom since we have accepted it. It has also become a huge attraction in New York City and many people visit it.
  • First telephone line was built

    The first telephone line has allowed many oppurtunities in the world. It has allowed better ways of communications and faster ways to get things done. The world uses telephones every day in their life and without this the communication in the world would not be the same.
  • The Sherman Antitrust Act

    Outlawed monopolies and practices that restrained trade, such as price fixing.
  • Ellis Island becomes chief immigration station of the U.S.

    Ellis Island has become a popular attraction. Besides it being an attraction, it has helped immigrates a lot. It allowed them a place to go when they immigrated from wherever they came from. They went there from a boat and then continued their new lives from there
  • National Reclamation Act

    Created to plan and develop irrigation projects
  • Wright brothers make the first controlled, sustained flight in heavier-than-air aircraft at Kitty Hawk, N.C

    Since the Wright Brothers have created this plane, it has allowed us to trade and travel to places a lot easier. We no longer have to wait for trains, walk, or take a car. We can get there in a matter of no time all because of them
  • United States Forest Service

    Created to manage the nation's water and timber resources
  • Meat Inspection

    Required federal inspection of meat processing to ensure sanitary confitions. In the past years a lot of people have been getting ill because of dirty meat, now that we have meat inspection, we can prevent these illnesses.
  • Hepburn Act

    Authorized the Interstate Commerce Commission to regulate railroad rates
  • Department of Labor

    Cabinet department created to promote the welfare and employment of working people. Without this, most people would not be able to survive or support their family. They wouldn't have jobs or a back up plan to get some or little money
  • Federal Reserve Act

    Created Federal Reserve System of government banks to supervise private banks. It also allowed a flexible system for money supply.
  • 16th Amendment

    Gave Congress the power to levy an income tax
  • 17th Amendment

    Provided for the direct election of senators
  • The Panama Canal

    The Panama Canal helped people to cross over the Pacific Ocean and Atlanitic Ocean. It also made trading a whole much easier.
  • First long distance telephone service, between New York and San Francisco

    Since this was built, we now have a new and better way to send messages to other people. We no longer have to travel to give a message, we can pick up a phone and just share the news
  • National Parks Service

    The National Park Service was created to administer our National Parks. Without these administrators, our parks wouldn't be a national attraction for us and they wouldn't be kept as nicely as they are.
