    Bloody Sunday
    During a protest, soldiers came in and shot down the protestors; afterwards, a huge strike took place- even the soldiers refused to cooperate. This was the starting point of the Revolution.

    The production of large machinery- tanks, guns, etc.- greatly increased. However, production of everything else such as household appliances came to an almost complete stop.

    After the Bloody Sunday, the workers stopped working, businessmen refused to open for business, and soldiers refused to follow orders. Russia could not operate and was shut-down until things changed.

    World War I Begins
    Because of the threat posed in WWI, Russia allied itself to fight opposing forces. This delayed the start of a civil war for a time.

    March Revolution
    A strike began in Petrograd. The size of the demonstration grew, and by March 9, 300,000 workers were marching in the streets. The strike now out of control was on the point of becoming a revolution. Bolshevik and Menshevik organizers were hard at work, urging more workers to join the strike. With Nicholas on the front lines, he ordered them to be stopped, but the military refused to cooperate and eventually joined the strike themselves.

    A few months after the the March Revolution, Nicholas was forced to abdicate, and in the next year, he and his family were shot, burned, and buried.
