    In 2002, President Bush signed the Homeland Security Act. This created a safer nation and more protection for Americans. I was born in 2002, so I was not paying attention to President Bush; however, I do vaguely remember Bush being President.

    The United States coalition invaded Iraq and began the Iraq war. This war lasted until 2011. The United States wanted to destroy Iraqi's destructive weapons. I was very young while these events took place, so I do not remember it.

    The iPod nano is released by Apple. This will pave the way for Apple's iPods and Mobile phones of the future. I remember as a child, I always wanted to have an iPod nano. I never got one, however, I do have an iPhone currently.

    My third birthday party was at Build-A-Bear at the Avenues Mall. We invited a large group of people, several children my age and their siblings.

    Obama is elected president in 2008, with current president Joe Biden as his vice president. This was the first time I was old enough to pay attention to an election, at 6 years old, and I remember being so excited at the thought of it. My favorite part of the election was learning about it in school from Scholastic kids magazines.

    The Sandy Hook shooting occurred in 2012. I remember this being the first school shooting I had heard of, and felt so sad for the victims and families. After this, my elementary school increased security.

    In the summer of 2012, my family sold our childhood home in less than 3 weeks, with many offers after one week on the market. We moved to my current home and neighborhood after that.

    President Donald Trump ran against First Lady Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Presidential Election. I remember this was a very intense election, and it was the first time I was interested in the process of an election.

    Hurricane Irma came in 2017, and hit Jacksonville and St. Augustine hard. I went to visit my Aunt after the Hurricane, and this was the tree in her neighborhood at the time.

    In the 2017 football season, the Jacksonville Jaguars made the playoffs. I remember thinking they had a chance to possibly reach the Superbowl, but when they played against the Patriots and Tom Brady, I was so upset when they lost. I remember hearing fireworks near downtown Jacksonville, and as we not caught up on the game, my family and I thought they must have won. We were so upset when we saw that the Jags lost.

    In 2017, I was Confirmed in my faith. I went to Catholic school my entire life, so I was so excited to finally be considered an adult in the Catholic Faith.

    In 2018, on Valentines day, the Parkland shooting occurred. I know many people who knew someone affected, and my brothers college roommate was in school there while the shooting occurred. It was a terrifying event for everyone involved, and as a high school freshman, it instilled a fear that this could happen to my school too. Luckily, it never did. I am still heartbroken when I think of the people involved.

    In 2020, the entire world was affected when Covid-19 caused the entire world to go on lockdown. Every single person, no matter where they are, has a personal experience with Covid. Many people who were overseas were unable to travel back home.

    In November 2020, I was able to vote for the first time. I was so excited because my birthday was in October and I had just made the cutoff for being able to vote. I registered to vote and went to the closed down Earth Fare on 210 to vote in the election.

    In 2021, Tristyn Bailey was murdered in the Durbin Crossing neighborhood rec center by Aiden Fucci. I remember this event very clearly, as it greatly affected my school and local community and I knew many people who knew the family. Everyone was heartbroken for the Bailey family, and angry that this happened to a 13 year old girl.
