  • Canada gained a strong reputation

    Canada gained a very strong reputation when the Canadian forces fought the German forces and captured the ridge.

    French Canadian volunteers struggled with the English-speaking military and manuals and instructions were often in English and so they were often disrespected and not promoted within the armed forces.
  • Women filled up empty jobs

    There was a shortage of workers so women started to fill up spots in factory work, they would make things like uniforms and boots, and later on, they would work on farms.
  • French soldiers promoted to higher ranks

    After the French-Canadian Regiment was formed, so many French-Canadian soldiers could finally be promoted to higher ranks.
  • Pegahmagabow experienced a terrible war

    In the fall of 1916 Pegahmagabow experienced the horrors of trench warfare during his WWI experience.
  • Canada's greatest success

    During the Battle of Vimy Ridge in April of 1917, Jones rescued his unit in what was to become a battle that is now known as Canada's greatest success.
  • Katherine MacDonald lost her life

    Nursing sister Katherine MacDonald lost her life at the age of 25 after an enemy air attack on May 19th, 1918.

    Prohibition was put in order during the war, so during the prohibition, there was a lot of crime and problems and it lasted from 1918-1920

    During the 1920s, technology became popular and more accessible and it changed the lifestyles of many people.

    In 1929 an act was passed that allowed women to no longer be treated unfairly and to be treated as a “person”.
