  • John Jacon Aster

    John Jacob Aster founded a fur trading post at the mouth of the Columbia River called Astoria. It was one on americas first settlements in what we know as today as Oregon Country
  • Colonizing Texas

    Stephen F Austin started colonizing Texas and had about 300 people with him. Americans started following him. Though, they had to obey Mexican law. Some people didn’t obey the law, and still had slaves.
  • Weren't obeying law.

    Since the American settlers weren’t obeying the law, and Mexico thought that Americans were taking control, Mexico banned further settlement for Americans. Americans were pissed. Texas was thinking of becoming independent.
  • Revolution had begun

    The Texas revolution had begun when Mexican forces wanted a cannon taken out of Gonzales, Texas, and the Texans wanted to keep the cannon, a battle came out of it, and the rebels won.
  • Santa Anna vs Rebels

    Santa Anna was pissed at Texas’s actions, and they sents thousands of troops. 200 rebels fought trying to hold them out, while Texas assembled an army. They held out until March 6th when Mexican troops attacked, and all the defenders of the Alamo died.
  • Remember the Alamo

    While Mexican troops were sleeping, Texan troops invaded yelling “Remember The Alamo!!” The Mexicans were wiped out quickly. Afterwards, Santa Anna troops were captured, and Texans forced them to sign a treaty giving Texas their independence.
  • Independence

    Texas got its independence, and modeled its constitution after the US. In the Texan constitution, they put that slavery is legal.
  • Time to stop

    After fighting a lot, because Mexico didn’t recognize Santa Anna’s treaty, Mexico and Texas decided enough was enough, and they signed a peace treaty
  • Oregon? Apart of the US?

    Oregon? Apart of the US?
    There are debates on who Oregon belongs to, but no one really wants a war, so they decided on letting America have it
  • Should Texas be apart of the US?

    The US was debating on whether to take Texas or not. It would make things unbalanced with the slaves states, but people said it was their “manifest destiny” to make the US sea to shining sea.
