    British forces burned the capital of the United States, Washington D.C., during the Battle of Bladensburg.
  • Indian Removal Act

    This allowed the President to negotiate with Native American tribes to remove them to West of the Mississippi. Everyone in the South besides Native Americans and Christian missionaries liked this act.
  • Whig Party

    Henry Clay was the leader of the Whig Party. They supported Congress over the President and were in opposition of Andrew Jackson. Farmers didn't like this party. This eventually merged into the Republican Party.
