The corrupt Directory government was bankrupt and the people were struggling and unhappy. As a popular general, Napoleon was able to assemble troops to successfully surround the national legislature. Many of the members were driven out, leaving the remaining members to dissolve the directory. This would enable Napoleon to be one of three consols. This was a successful political accomplishment because a failed government was overthrown without bloodshed, to create a more successful one.

France was economically struggling after the French Revolution. The majority of the people were poor and the government was in debt. The headquarters were built in Paris with Napoleon, prominent figures, and family members of Napoleon as the founding shareholders. The bank issued paper money and the bank was sourced off of gold. This was an economic success because it unified France into a central form of money and boosted the economy apart from the past rise in inflation.

Before the French Revolution, only a small percentage of children had the opportunity to attend secondary school because the school admittance was based off connections. To aid in increasing education and lower the gap between the wealthy and poor Napoleon created lycées for boys ages 10-16. Students from all backgrounds were accepted. Theses enforced loyalty of the boys to France and Napoleon. This was a political accomplishment since Napoleon created a new schools system to educate more kids.

The church had been involved and wished to control national affairs. Napoleon detested the Church involving themselves because of the enlightenment ideas disregarding religion intertwined with government. Napoleon had to satisfy both the enlightenment ideas influenced to the people and the desires of the Church. The concordat was a social reform established by Napoleon which satisfied the people who were happy to embrace enlightenment ideas, and the Church by claiming France as mostly Catholic.

Napoleon had defeated Austria at Marengo, but because it was a war troops were sacrificed. Napoleon expressed his care for France and its future by recognizing the kids who lost their dads. To cope with this, Napoleon offered to adopt all of the children of the deceased soldiers. He ordered for the state to pay their tuition and care. To amass money, Napoleon decided to sell all of the Louisiana territory to America for $15 million. The agreement established a treaty alongside, dissolving the worries of war breaking out. The purchase was a economic success because the French desperately needed money and there were thoughts of an impending war over the Louisiana purchase with america.

Europe underwent a duration of peace after the Treaty of Amiens was signed. Countries France, Britain, Spain, and the Batavian/Netherlands Republic all took part in the peace. Napoleon decided peace was necessary after the chaos in the French Revolution. This peace offered agriculture to be focused on agriculture. Napoleon had reclaimed land and drained swamps to provide for farming land. Food production increased and this social reform showed farmers that Napoleon supported and cared for them.

Napoleon wished to change Paris into a capital to compete with Ancient Rome. He began a building project to showcase the military achievements he accomplished. Napoleon not only built monuments, but improved the canals to bring fresh water for the people and improve roads for transportation. The improvement of France was an economic achievement because it housed more people in Paris, bringing more business. Paris also became a future tourist attraction, that improved the economy later in time.

The Napoleonic Code introduced by Napoleon four years prior was approved as the new legal framework for France. Napoleon's legal system provided equality for all men. The system was enforced throughout all territories run by Napoleon. This political achievement was a necessary change because the legal system in place before had been outdated and didn't include forms of enlightenment. The Napoleonic Code acted ideals of enlightenment for the people to evolve into the new age.

Thanks to Napoleon, France had conquered most European countries besides Britain, Portugal, Austria, Prussia and Russia. Napoleon had made allies and France was supported. France wasn't prone to invasion anymore with more French land enemies weakened. This military accomplishment made France strong enough for its enemies to be afraid of war. Napoleon expanded France to avoid war by creating an empire too strong for other countries to challenge.

Napoleon desired to create an empire of France and decided it was time to become emperor, so he could begin his empire building. Napoleon created his own coronation ceremony to be held at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The French voters supported his coronation. As the pope was in the process of crowning him, Napoleon took the crown and crowned himself. This political act showed the French people that Napoleon held more power than the Church and declared Napoleon as Emperor.

After hearing of Napoleon's desire to conquer Europe, the British allied with Sweden, Russia, and Austria. Although outnumbered, Napoleon's 68,000 troops defeated 90,000 Austrian and Russian troops. Napoleon tricked his enemies into thinking his forces were weak to increase the French's chance in winning. This military success forced Austria, Prussia and Russia to sign a peace treaty. After this battle the French had less enemies and greater fear of Napoleon's military genius.

Napoleon had conquered Italy, Germany, Spain, Naples and Holland. To maintain the large land run by Napoleon, he instilled his close relatives as Kings of the conquered lands. Napoleon had the previous leaders dethroned and replaced. The new leaders were loyal to Napoleon allowing him to oversee the entire French Empire. This military success expanded France and made it the most dominant country of Europe. France was safe and stable with French leaders in the territories of the French Empire.

Napoleon should be remembered as the savior to France. He had arrived during a period of confusion and chaos. Napoleon brought France stability, success, and enforced ideals of enlightenment. Unlike past French leaders, Napoleon cared for his people by resolving issues which benefited them. Napoleon transformed the poor divided France into a unified feared Empire. Napoleon should also be remembered for his expertise and leadership in battle, which led to France's military dominating in Europe.
