Diaz takes control of Mexico by ousting the president. He became a dictator, but there was a lot of progress under his rule.

Zapata wanted land to be returned to the poor and the farmers. He helped defeat Diaz's army. His slogan was "Tierra y Libertad" (Land and Liberty).

Madero, who believed in deomocracy ran for president, but was arrested by Diaz. He called for a revolution and won many fights with Diaz's army. He won in 1911 and became president.

The people of Mexico did not like Madero because he was too middle of the road. He then resigned and Huerta became president, later having Madero assassinated.

Carranza revises the Mexican constitution, promoting worker's rights, land reform, and education. The constitution is still in effect now.

Huerta was unpopular and Carranza wanted to overthrow him. His army overthrew Huerta after he had been in power for 15 months. He then murdered Zapata and revised the Mexican constitution.

After overthrowing Carranza, Obregon came to power, although he was not a dictator. He supported land reforms and public education.

After Obregon was killed, the PRI came to power. While it was in power, there was peace and stability in Mexico.
