  • Toddler Years

    Toddler Years
I loved to color, although my pictures didn't usually resemble what I had in mind!
  • Preschool

    Preschool
In Preschool writing was usually limited to practicing my name, letters, and numbers; pretty different from what is expected of preschoolers and kindergartners today!
  • First Grade Journal

    First Grade Journal
First Grade is where I fell in love with writing! We had journals that we wrote in every single day, and I always volunteered to share mine. I was in Heaven for those ten minutes a day!
  • My First Report

    My First Report
In fourth grade I wrote my first biographical report. My subject was Eleanor Roosevelt, and I remember being so nervous about remembering to include everything! Presenting the report was pretty nerve wracking as well.
  • Creative Writing

    Creative Writing
In my eighth grade English class we were asked to keep journals from the point of view of a 14th century teen based on what we learned in our history books, videos, and the book "Catherine,Called Birdy" by Karen Cushman. I was so excited to have the chance to do something so creative for school!
  • High School

    High School
In my sophomore year of high school in San Diego, CA, my English teacher assigned us partners and different parts of the play "Julius Caesar" to rewrite and preform in a different genre. My partner Brian and I chose to rewrite ours based on Monty Python, and we had so much fun! When it came time to perform our script, we had so much fun! (Bonus; our teacher was a HUGE Monty Python fan, and we got an A even though we had accidentally covered the wrong part of the play).
  • College

    College
In college, we were given an assignment to write about something we knew a lot of information about that pertained to our own lives. I chose to write about being a twin. I learned a lot of interesting things about twins that I hadn't known before! It was the first time a college professor kept my writing as an example to show to other classes, and I felt so proud!
  • Student Teaching

    Student Teaching
While I was doing my student teaching in third grade, I came up with the idea of having students work in groups to write fractured Fairy Tales. It probably wasn't as well executed then as it would have been now, but it was a great learning experience for us all!
  • Recipe Blog

    Recipe Blog
For about two years or so, my sister and I had a recipe blog called "Twins in the Kitchen." We would develop recipes together, shoot the pictures, and create content based on the recipes. Eventually we got too busy with teaching and life in general to continue, but it was a great creative outlet while it lasted!
  • Kindergarten Fun

    Kindergarten Fun
As a Kindergarten teacher, I always loved teaching writing, but I know there are many ways in which I can improve! I am excited to learn more about this wonderful topic.
