    A French and Britsh opperation was set up to capture the Ottoman capital of Constantinople (which is now known as Istabul) and secure a sea route to Russia through the Dardanelles straight. The attempt failed, with heavy casualties on both sides. The campaign was considered one of the greatest victories of the Turks and was reflected on as a major failure by the Allies.

They sent the message to the U.S. The note was asking Mexico to enter the war on the side of the Central Power and when the war ended the Central Powers would give Mexico land that they lost to the U.S. This was the final straw and the U.S. president decided to ask Congress to enter the war. April 2, 1917 the U.S. President asked Congress to declare war on Germany.
