Woodrow Wilson, President of the time, announced America's neutrality because of the amount of foreign born people in the US. America, at this time, did not believe in imperialism and attempted to give every country or place freedom for themselves.

President Wilson declared neutrality due to the large number of foreign born citizens in the US. Most foreign citizens supported their own, home countries instead of backing America. People in America showed Nationalism by representing their own country despite living in the US at the time.

Ending of the war brought America into the great depression, full of hard financial times and a crashed economy. Also, as a result of the war, 30-40 million lives were lost across all the countries involved. WWI brought certain countries to power and shower the true military strength these places contained.
