    Ancient Greece invented democracy which is important because we have that form of government today. Greece invented drama which influences us because we use those same ideas in movies/tv. Had the first Olympics, also their archittecture (pillars) still influence us.

    Ancient Rome

    Rome had Law of Nations which is natural law and it influences us today because we use the same idea. We are influenced by Roman architecture because in many of our important buildings we use domes and arches. Roman language also influenced the English language. Rome influences much of our paintings and scupltures.

    In the Middle Ages the Church had a lot of power. They were the only ones who had eduction which gave them political power. There was Feudalism with was a political and social system used for protection. Middle Ages' art was mostly religion because many people couldn't read and the art told the story of the bible. It was very out of proportion and unrealistic.

    Renaissance

    It was a "rebirth" of the Rome and Greece cultures. Their paintings were much more improportion and they discoved the use of shading to create light. There was wealth and many people moved to the city. Trading was happening, and Italy was the center of it, the starting place of the Renaissance.

    Europe discovered the Americas. They became wealthy off the gold and silver. They enslaved the native Americans and many of them died. They also had slaves from Africa.

    Martin Luther spoke against corruption in the Catholic church. Priests were abusing their power for wealth. Luther started the reformation, people became Lutheran, Calvinism, and many other new religions.

    Time where great thinkers like John Locke, Beccaria, Mary Wollstonecraft, Voltaire, and Montesquieu applied the scientific method on human behavior. Many of their ideas were used to create the foundation of the United States. They were used in the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.
