    Sigmund Freud's publication of Interpretation of Dreams launches the beginning of the school of psychoanalytic thought.

    Ivan Pavlov publishes his first studies in classic conditioning.

    The first DSM book was published which was the start of the classification of mental illness.

    New Mexico is the first state to allow psychologists to prescribe medication to their patients.
