    Olaudah Equiano was a former slave, after buying his freedom he became an abolitionist. He wrote his first autobiography in 1789. He spoke out against slavery and helped to resettle free slaves in Sierre Leone.

    Robert Fultor was the inventor of the steam boat. A boat that runs on steam not oars or a mill like the ones in the past. The invention of this steamboat lead to many other steam powered inventions and was one of the inventions that started the industrial revolution.

    The year of revolution was the year several countries rebelled and protested. These included over 50 countries sadly these revolutions were unsuccessful except for Greece which rebelled against the Ottoman Empire in 1820 and gained freedom.

    After the French Revolution, France resorted back to monarchy again and after that position was being abused the people started to get angry and protest. They would build barricades in the streets using about anything they could find furniture, old wood etc. they then would often fight against soldiers they where put down, hundreds of people were lost because of this. The government started to build wider streets to prevent these barricades.This went on for several days in June from the 23-26.

When this theory was published it contradicted the many popular and heavily taught traditions that took God out of the picture leading to new ideas and beliefs.

    The Dreyfus affair was the arrest of an innocent Jew who was accused of turning in French military papers to the German Embassy. He was accused on behalf of anti septism and sent to a deserted island for treason . After this many spoke out defending Dreyfus and accusing the government of anti septism and speaking out against discrimination. The government later agreed to release Dreyfus and erase his 'criminal' record.
