During reconstruction, when the south was to accept blacks into the society laws were stated to keep them separate. Forbidding blacks from doing a lot of things. The earliest laws came just after the war ended in 1865

During the manifestation of destiny in 1867, the US purchased Alaska from the Russian Tsardom for $7.2 million ($132 million today). The US did this to be able to get the resources that the land had to offer such as;
Gold, coal, oil, wood, and ores. -
The time in which the US built an empire of its own to prove to the world (Europe) that they had power and could take over land, starting with Alaska and ending with the Panama Canal.

The 14th amendment gave all men who were born or naturalized into US citizenship.

In 1870, John D. Rockefeller names his company Standard Oil to assure the people of the security of the products it produces. Some manufacturers of kerosine had produced it wrong and made it highly volatile. To make sure kerosine stays in business, he starts standard oil to calm the people and have a standard line for what is "a good product and trustworthy".

Jun 25 - Jun 26, 1876
Battle of Little Bighorn was the battle between General Custer and Native Americans of Sioux and Great plains tribes who left the reservatories in North Dakota. Custer and his men all died as they were attacked by ~3000 native warriors.

It gave authorization for the federal government to break up tribal land. It also gave the native Americans who accepted the breakup to become US citizens.

Wounded knee massacre was a battle between the US 7th infantry and the Lakota Sioux. The US troops surrounded the Ghost dancers and the battle unfolded after a small fight between a US soldier and a native soldier. The massacre ended with 25 US men dead and 150 Natives dead (some believe more) Source:

Carnegie steel was the first large scale steel company in the US and basically built the US cities and large city skylines as we see them today.

The U.S overthrow Queen Liliuokalani after USS Boston sailed over to Hawaii to, allegedly, protect American lives on the island after troubles between the natives and the American business owners. The Americans wanted Hawaii to become a part of the US, the Hawaiians, not so much.

The Spanish-American war played out between April 21, 1898, to July 17, 1898.
The Spanish declared war on the US after the US decided to give Cuba independence from the Spanish empire. Spain didn´t like the US to get involved and went to war. To protect the US mainland, the US attacked the Spanish territories in the pacific to lure the Spaniards away. In the end, Cuba got independence and Spain lost its pacific territories.

In 1901, in Buffalo, president William McKinley is assassinated and his VP had to take over, now VP Theodore Roosevelt became President Theodore Roosevelt and started his trust-busting career.

Panama Canal was started by France in 1880 and later continued by the US after, with some "flexing" parked a warship off the coast of Colombia. This meant that France could help the Panamanian rebels take back their country and get independence. This, in turn, leads to a deal with the U.S to take over the building of the canal in 1904

The Triangle shirtwaist fire was a horrible factory accident where a fire broke out in a factory and the only fire escape broke as the workers rushed out of the burning building. The fire ended with a new law forcing on building codes and 145 workers dead.

The breakup of Standard Oil - May 5th, 1911
T. Roosevelt had taken on himself of breaking up the big trusts and brought down Standard Oil on the 5th of May 1911 and broke it up into 34 different companies. Some still active today, some have gone together or been bought by other companies. This breakup however affected the industry greatly, giving people a chance to get into the business as well as helping the market with rivalry. -
It was an act that told under what conditions children were to work so that they didn´t die or got hurt. It also told between what times they were to work and how old they were to be allowed to work

Prohibition protests 1918 - 1933
The prohibition protests happened all through the prohibition era, and as the encyclopedia states - "For most of America's prohibition era, alcohol consumption was the most significant form of protest.".
