  • Chapter 4

    in this chapter, Jullily, Adam and Lester were quite fed up of the chattering noises from the wagon. It became lke there home. Jullily sung songs to remind the children about their mammy. Another important event was the rainstorm and how Jullily was so brave to go and save the children.
  • Chapter 5

    By now the children have reached their destination. They feel both anger and relife. They are hungery and tired of sitting in the wagon but at the same time do not wat to face the Riley's. There was a huge difference between her new house and her old house. Jullily got seperated from the other children ad was sent to another cabbin.
  • chapter 6

    Now Jullily has met a good friend, Liza. Liza and jullily spoke quite alot. Liza told Jullily all about the Riley Plantation and about the mean Sims. Jullily saw the way the way the slave ate and couldnt belive her eyes. She thought about the children how they would be. Then Liza showed Jullily how they had to wash the clothes. Then it was soon time to pick cotton Jullily helped Liza. By night, Jullily missed her mammy and ended up telling Liza about Canada.

    Every day Jullily had to pick the amount of cotton told. If anybody did not reach the measure, they would be whipped badly. Jullily and Liza thought more of escaping, but other who would hear would give them advice of caution. Another important event was the arrival of Alexander Ross, The man from Canada.
  • chapter 8

    The man from Canada chose Adam and Lester to help him look for birds. The white man spoke to Sims for a while asking about crop. At dinner there were whispers about Canada and Mr Ross. Jullily thought and thought about Canada and being free. Jullily and Liza decided some day they would escape to fid Canada.
  • chapter 9

    Now Jullily got to meet Lester as it was a sunday! Jullily told him to talk to massa Ross but in return to that, Lester said that massa ross was thre to help some slaves escape! Lester made Jullily promise not to tell anyone but Liza. It was decided that they would meet under a tree after the siren where they would be given instructions for directions.
  • chapter 10

    The next day, Jullily and Liza quitley started their job of picking cotton balls. The girls couldnt stop thinking about the escape and just couldnt wait. They hoped they wouldnt get caught. Then when the time came, they gathered around massa Ross and he gave instructions. This could be the childrens only hope to getting to Canada.
  • chapter 11

    The children were worried how they would find their way but lester said he could read the signs and a man sent by Massa Ross would be waiting ahead. They could addentify that man by the password.
  • chapter 12

    All the children werin the wagon on their way to the barn. Along the way they met men on horseback from the Riley Plantation. The men were looking for Julilly, Adam, Lester and Liza as they were missing.They were hiding under the hay so they wernt caught or seen. Adam and Lester went across the stream to fish. Julilly and Liza heard barking while eating and storing food. They realized Adam and Lester had been caught.

    After taking the compass,They met the 'Minnonites'. The Minnonites were kind people who helped the girls. They gave them hope and restored their faith.Also gave them food and clean clothes to wear.
  • chapter 14

    The gils were frightened and wanted to find Adam and Lester as they were the ones who knew the way. Without them, the girls were lost.The girls then met Jeb and Ella Brown. They told Julilly and Liza about Lester and Adam. Jeb and Ella told the girls about the ‘Underground Railway’.
