This is the point when Scout is told by her teacher that she needs to stop reading because she is to far ahead of all theother students and needs to be with her alone,this shows that scout really was and still is raised differently from all the other students -
Atticus shoots mad dog
In this part, a mad dog seems to have rabies and is slowly coming into the town and is becoming a threat, Scout and Jem then are shown by Atticus , who shoots the dog, that Atticus has more hushed than he's told the kids, after this Scout and Jem realize that there is more to Atticus than of what they currently know -
Scout and Jem find items in a tree
One day Scout and Jem are passing by a tree located near the Radly house, when passing by Jem seems to notice that there are several things inside the tree, this is important because this shows that Boo is trying to contact the kids in some way,or has taken an interest in them -
Jem loses pants at Radley house
one day Scout, Jem, and Dill decide to crawl under the Radley house fence, this then causes mass problems as Boo comes out and shoots at the kids missing them byt scaring them enough for Jems pants to get snagged under the fence which are torn, later when Jem goes back the pants are sewn and fixed -
Tom is charged with rape
Tom, a black man, is charged with rape against Bob Ewells daughter Mayela Ewell, this is a giant deal because a black man even touching a white man or women is unheard of ,espacailly with rape -
Atticus takes the Tom Robinson case
Atticus takes the case and many people in the town are furious because they think that he doesnt like whites at all,but Atticus justifies it to Scout by saying "If i didnt take this case then I would never be able to tell you and Jemno again". -
Scout doesnt get in a fight
After Scout gets in a fight with a relative Atticus tells Scout to not fight over what people think of him, at school Scout is then confronted but instead of fighting like many of the other kids know her to be, she doesnt fight but instead brushes it off -
Aticcus stays at the jail to protect Tom
For one night Tom is placed in jail and seemingly is placed without any protection,so Atticus decides to stay at the jail to protect Tom, who is then confonted by several men in coats ,one of them happening to be Walter Cunningham, Scout then intervenes and earns Walters respect -
Scout and Jem are attacked
After a school play, Scout is walking home ocompanied by Jem, near halfway to their home a man jumps out of the bushes and attacks Scout but misses, Jem then is hurt while wrestling the unknown man, Jem is then hurt badly and another man puts the attacker down ands helps Jem to safety -
Scout meets Boo
Scout learns that the attacker was Bob getting revenge for being proven wrong in front of the whole town, Jem after wrestling Bob came out with a broken arm and after that Scout realizes that Boo saved them both and that Boo really is good and not crazy
