The probable first cases of pandemic can be traced back to Camp Funston, an training camp located in Kansas, USA. Failure to take preventive measures allowed the virus to spread to other Army bases around the United States and, subsequently, Europe as a result of soldiers being sent to fight World War 1 in Europe. By the time the pandemic ends in April 1920, 500,000,000 people were infected, and 50,000,000 died, making it one of the deadliest pandemics in history.

On this day, protesters held a "silent parade" in support of arrested leaders of the Winnipeg General Strike. At City Hall, protesters began to vandalize a streetcar. The North-West Mounted Police, which were called in by Mayor Charles F. Gray, charged at them, killing 2, injuring 30, and left 30 arrested. The strike would end 4 days later. contributed to the development of a stronger labour movement and the tradition of social democratic politics in Canada.

The Group of Seven was formed between 7 Canadian landscape painters. The original group consisted of Franklin Carmichael, Lawren Harris, A.Y. Jackson, Frank Johnston, Arthur Lismer, J.E.H MacDonald, & Frederick Varley. They began Canada's first national art movement. At this time, a desire for Canadian culture was growing, and the Group of Seven helped boost Canadian distinctiveness.

Guglielmo Marconi created the modern radio. At this time, the idea of radio as entertainment took off. XYA in Canada was the first station to receive a license to broadcast on December 1st, 1919.

Flappers were young women known for energetic freedom and short dress. They pushed barriers and advocated for social change, and economic, sexual, and political freedoms. Additionally, they helped fight off prohibition.

Created to convert Indigenous children to Christianity. Abuse, malnutrition, and death were very common at these schools. The last Residential School, located in Saskatchewan, closed in 1996. However, the long-lasting effects of generational trauma as still felt by indigenous community members today.

A case put forward by the Government of Canada on the lobbying group of women known as the Famous Five (Henrietta Edwards, Nellie McClung, Louise McKinney, Emily Murphy and Irene Parlby). The outcome decided women were considered "persons" under the law. This gave women the right to be appointed to the Senate of Canada. It also paved the way for women's increased participation in public and political life.

The Wall Street Crash occurred on October 29th, 1929. Heavy trading started Thursday October 24th, and made the market very unstable. The morning of the 29th, investors traded 16 million shares in the morning. This caused the market to crash and began the Great Depression.

A mass protest sparked by unemployed single men working in relief camps. They boarded trains in B.C with the intention of travelling to Ottawa with their grievances. They did not make it that far, and the leaders were arrested July 1st, 1935 at a public meeting. This sparked the Regina Riot.
