This compromise was created by Henry Clay in response to the question of whether or not Missouri would enter the United States as a slave state or a union state. Andrew Jackson wanted to make room for the new American settles. As a result, he had Congress passed the Indian Removal Act which allowed for all Cherokee Indians to be removed from Georgia to Mississippi. As a result, the Indians were forcible moved to reservation in Oklahoma. This removal event became known as the Trail of Tears.
