    Ivan IV (Ivan the terrible)
    In August of 1530, Ivan, the son of Elena Glinskaya and Vasili III of Russia, was born. He was an irritable and violent person all his life, known for violent fits of rage and he became famous for torturing and executing thousands of people. More than 3,000 people lost their lives in Ivan's attack on Novgorod alone. Even members of the Russian Orthodox church were not exempt from Ivan IV's executions. Ivan died March 18 1584
  • Charles I (or Charles V)

    Charles I (or Charles V)
    Born November 19th of 1600, Charles claimed the throne in 1625. During his first four years of regin, he dissolved parliement 4 times, and by 1629, he had dissmissed it entirely. Ruling alone meant raising funds by non-parliamentary means, and that angered the public, eventually causing a civil war to break out. In 1649, Charles was charged for treason, and was beheaded.

    Lois XIV
    Born On Sep. 5 1638, King Louis XIV was appointed to the throne at the age of 4 and in his reign he was faced with a war with France when he was young. In 1661, he declared he would rule without a Chief Misister. In 1685 he declared the Edict of Fontainbleau, whcich destroyed protestant churches, closed protestent schools, disbanded the protestant clergy. In 1718, he was beheaded by a guillotine.
  • Peter I

    Peter I
    Peter I was born on June 9, 1672 in Moscow Russia. Peter was able to gain power over the country's medieval aristocracy. He created a strong navy and administered control over the reactionary Orthodox Church. He completely replaced Russia's outdated form of government with a functioning Senate. During his rule, Peter declared Russia an empire and was given the title of Emperor of All Russia, establishing him as an absolute monarch. Peter I died on February 8, 1725 without choosing an heir.
  • Frederick William I

    Frederick William I
    Frederick William I of Prussia was born on August 14, 1688. During his reign, he mainly focused on building his army into a major fighting power. He began with an army of about 38,000 soldiers that were mostly foreign. Over the course of his life, he built Prussia into a finacially stable country and by the time he died, he left his heir with an army of about 83,000 soldiers and a population of 2,200,000. He died on May 31, 1740.
