    The Spanish flu was first brought to North America by soldiers who had been returning home from the war. The total death number is not known however it is estimated that over 55,000 Canadians died as a result of it with over 5% of the entire world's population at the time.

    During the was a Prohibition was put into place in Canada but shortly ended after the war. However this was not the case with Americans, there was many illegal rum smuggling operations that happened between the two borders during the 20's and into the 30's

    Canada joined the League of Nations and it finally had full independence from Britain this meant that we would now have our independence with everything except laws.

    Winnipeg General Strike | Bloody Saturday

    On June 21st, 1919 during the Winnipeg General Strike a large protest started over the leaders of the strike being arrested at the time protests were prohibited thus causing the Royal Northwest Mounted Police (aka. RCMP) to be called in. The high soar in police officers caused the violence that resulted in the death of 1 man and injuries to 30 more. Most officers would fire their rifles into the air however some of them fired into the crowds of people. The ended less than a week later.

These 'schools' would take first nations kids away from their families and take them to the school where they would attempt to get rid of their heritage and force them to act more what they defined as 'Canadain'.

    In 1921 the first-ever female Member of Parliament was elected into the chamber. Her name was Agnes MacPhail and her riding was located in Grey County. She was the MP there for over 20 years before she quit politics.

    In 1921 Fredrick Banting made the discovery of Insulin the medicine that has saved millions of lives over the years for those suffering from diabetes. He made the discovery in a lab at the University Of Toronto lab and the first patient to receive it was Leonard Thompson who was 14 at the time and was facing Type 1 Diabites.

    On October 23rd of 1921 Prime minister, William Lyon Mackenzie was first voted into office. To date, he is the longest-standing Prime Minister with 6 terms. In his time as PM, he made long-lasting changes and policies that changed Canada's future.

    The Halibut Treaty was the first-ever treatie ever that Canada signed as its own dominion. The treatie was intended to change laws regarding fisheries.

    The great depression happened shortly after the stock market crash in October. Another leading cause of this was the lack of jobs and poverty at the time due to the women joining the workforce during the first WW.

    Statute Of Westminster

    On December 11th of 1931, the British Government signed the Statute Of Westminster which allowed Canada to become its own dominion and that it didn't have to follow British law. This did not however mean that we had no connection to Britain we still remained in the Commonwealth.
