During this step of the writing process, you will THINK about what you want to write and generate topic ideas.
For the Personal Narrative you must consider:
1. What small moment will you write about,
2. Who is your audience?,
3. Brainstorm snapshot details,
4. Write small snapshot details. -

Personal Narrative Writing Timeline

Drafting
Beging writing!! This is the firat time that you will be writing for the Personal Narrative.
First, you will begin by drafting some snapshots of juicy details for your Personal Narrative. The they do not have to be complete stories, just short blurbs that include many good details that will enable your readers to better envision your story.
Next, you will draft your Personal Narrative in it's entirety, including the snapshot details you wrote previously. -
Revising
During this step you will be re-reading your Personal Narrative draft as well as sharing your narrative with classmates. Based upon what your classmates and teacher have suggested to you, you may or may not want to alter some things about your narrative.
You may decide to delete a section of it, add a new detail, or rearrange sentences so that they make better sense.
At the end of this step you should be able to read aloud your draft to make sure that it flows smoothly and makes perfect sense. -
Editing
Editing is one of the most important processes of writing. Here is where you will make sure everything in your narrative is CORRECT. With the help of a classmate you will check one another's work to make sure that:
1. all sentences are complete
2. spelling, punctuation and grammar are correct
3. change words that are used incorrectly
4. finalize your copy so that it is ready for publication. -
PUBLISHING
Share your work! Print it out on nice paper, hand it in, share with the class! Here we can celebrate all the hard work you put into writing your Personal Narrative! Be proud and scream it from the rooftops!! All Personal Narratives will also be shared on our Wiki page. :) Good job!! -
