United States also has a constitution, its role is to protect the basic human rights. It was written in 1789 by a group of men called the founding Fathers

George Washington is in the founding Fathers group. He became the first president in 1789.

The Bill of Rights is the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution. It was completed in 1791.

President Abraham Lincoln managed to ensure the freedom of slaves. Slaves was one on the issues that led to a civil war between the Northern and Southern states (1861-1865). And the end The Northern state won the civil war, and slavery was abolished.

The slave trade was banned in 1807 but was officially abolished in 1865.

Freed slaves was going to have the same rights as other free men, but in practice this was not so. Some African Americans were elected into office in the 1880s.
