    1889Hitler was born in Branau, Austria on April 20, 1889. He was born to Alios and Klara Hitler. Both of his parents had come from poor peasant familes but were very smart nonetheless. His father was 23 years older than his mother, and she was his third wife.

    1911Thule Society, originally a “German Study Group”, was founded in 1911 and was headed by Walter Nauhaus. In 1917 Nauhaus moved to Munich, his Thule-Gesellschaft was to be a cover-name for the Munich branch of the Germanenorden. Thule-Gesellschaft’s primary focus was a claim concerning the Aryan race. If one wanted to enter the “Germanic Order” as titled and created in 1918, one had to sign a “blood declaration of faith.”

He blamed this on the Jewish leaders of the school, and part of his blame was likely due to the anti-Semantic attitudes of much of Vienna. He scraped by making ads for things like soap companies, but then moved to Germany to join the war.

Hitler changed the name of the party to the National Socialist Workers’ Party, Nazis for short.

    1920Hitler took charge of party propaganda in early 1920, and also recruited young men he had known in the Army. Hitler had help from a new party member, Army Captain Ernst Rohm. He helped immensely in the recruiting efforts. Ernst would later play a vital role in Hitler’s rise to power in Germany.

    1921Hitler became leader shortly after joining the group. Much of what lead him to be leader was his eloquent, moving speeches. In his speeches he encouraged nationalism and militarism, and used his public platform to condemn the Jews and blame them for Germany's shortcomings.

    Hitler in Jail, Writes Autobiography
    1923Hitler was jailed after a failed coup to forcefully take over Germnay, 10 years before he actually came into power. Whie in Jail, 'Mein Kampf' (My Struggle) was Hitler's autobiography that he wrote while that vividly laid out his plans on becoming the leader of the Nazi party, and eventually Chauncellor of Germany. HItler then wrote a sequel later in 1928. In it, he details plans of a German/British war against the USA.

Unemployment grew, starvation was becoming more common, and the people wanted someone to blame and looked to extreme solutions. Hitler offered them both, therefore Nazi success in the elections grew, and Germans turned to Nazism because they were desperate.

    1932Germany’s economy was built on foreign capital. When loans and deals fell through financial markets world wide collapsed. Production levels fell, German workers were laid off, and banks were closed. People, especially the middle class, were cast into poverty over night and people began looking desperately for a solution. Hitler quickly took advantage of this opportunity to gain followers and rise in power.

    1933The Nazis became the second largest party in Germany and were too strong to be ignored. Hitler was invited by a coalition government to be Chancellor. To get the legislative process suspended, Hitler used Article 48, and then on he ruled by decree. He then began calling himself “The Leader” after combining the presidential and chancellor offices.

    1935Mein Kampf is a book written by Hitler while in prison. He speaks about his youth, early days in Nazi Germany, future plans of Germany, and ideas on politics and race. He also divides humans into categories based on physical appearance, establishing higher or lower orders, or types of humans. Mein Kapft means My Struggle, or My Battle in German.
