Hitler invaded Denmark and Norway to prevent Britain trying to stop iron ore from getting through these countries from Sweden to Germany. The Danes did not fight. The Norweigens did and were attackfrom the air and sea. Churchill sent in troopbut the British soldiers were half-trained so had to be withdrawn. It was all a bit of a failure.

Chamberlain resigns from being Prime Minister. Some people want Halifax, others Churchill. Attlee, the Labour Party leader, said his party would not support Halifax.The public also supported Churchill. So he became PM, and formed a coalition government. The Germans also invade Belgium and Holland on this day.
