Rome had polictical instability. They couldn't figure out how to transfer new leaders fairly. Rome also had economic and social problems. To finance Rome's huge armies, there was heavy taxes. There wasn't enough jobs to support everyone. Crime made the streets unsafe. Finally, the weakening frontiers also caused Rome to fall. A big country is hard to defend. It even took weeks for commanders weeks to communicate. In 476 C.E., the last emperor was driven off the throne by Germanic tribes.

The Byzantium Empire was a continuatuatioin of the Roman Empire. It started when the emperor Constantine moved the capital to Byzantium, also known as Constantinople. The Creation of the Byzantium Empire also created the Eastern Orthodox Church, different from the Roman Catholic Church. These two systems permenantly divided Byzantium from Rome.

Feuadilism is when people are listed in order of importance. The order goes: Monarch, Noblemen (Lords), Knights, Peasants, and Serfs. This started after the fall of Rome and people needed a system and a way of defending themselves. Monarchss ruled everything, Noblemen and women helped the Monarch in areas, knights served Noblemen and Monarchs in battle, Peasants worked, and Serfs were slaves.

Also known as the Black Death. Symptoms included fever, vomiting, coughing, sneezing, black and blue blothes on the skin, and egg-size swelling or bumps. It also contributes to the decline of feudalism, allowing peasants to demond more pay and rights in return of the need of work. The plague was carried by trade routes starting in central Asia and India.
