When I was in the third grade my teacher was named Mrs. Brand. At the end of each school year she would do a fun competition involving our progress in learning the multiplication times tables. Every one that you remembered, you were awarded one scoop of ice cream. Erikson's stage of Industry versus Inferiority involves a crisis of feeling competant compared to peers on how many scoops of ice cream I could get or feeling inferior for not accomplishing the expectations of the the class (society).

Growing up in a small, sports oreientated community, success in sports can easily define the level of respect you get from others. The first major determinating factor is if you are able to make the "A Team" in middle school sports. In 7th grade I felt the pressure to make the A team in basketball. In Erikson's Competence versus Inferiorty, the crisis is making the team and feeling competent or making the "B Team" and feeling inferior to my peers and community.

I am very close with my twin sister and life together is all we have ever known. We split up this year by attending different schools. In Erikson's Identity versus Role Confusion, the crisis is expierencing a different lifestlye of living apart without becoming depressed and finding my role in my own life by reintegrating my sense of self as a "single".

With the exception of just a few friends from high school and some family, I did not know to many people when I moved to Anchorage. I met a boy but quickly found that although fun, he was not the best influence on me. In Erikson's stage of Intimacy or Isolation, the crisis was investing into the relationship to feel secure and included or to pass up the oppurtunity which could lead to lonliness and isolation.
