  • HP 200A Audio Oscillator

     HP 200A Audio Oscillator
This was the first project put out by the HP company. It was an innovation in computers. It's most famous use was in Walt Disney's Fantasia where it was used to produce sound effects.
  • The first computer with RAM.

MIT introduces the Whirlwind machine on March 8, 1955, a revolutionary computer that was the first digital computer with magnetic core RAM and real-time graphics.
  • Silicon Chip

The first integrated circuit, or silicon chip, is produced by the US Jack Kilby & Robert Noyce
  • SAGE

Semi-Automatic Ground Simulator, or SAGE, was the first large-scale computer network. It was first used by the military to link radar stations so that they could communicate. Users touched a light gun to the screen to opperate it.
  • PDP-8

Digital Equipment Corp. introduced the PDP-8, the first commercially successful minicomputer. The PDP-8 sold for $18,000, one-fifth the price of a small IBM 360 mainframe. The speed, small size, and reasonable cost enabled the PDP-8 to go into thousands of manufacturing plants, small businesses, and scientific laboratories.
  • ARPANET

The precursor to the internet. It was originally developed for the department of defence and for the military.
  • Kenbak-1

The Kenbak-1, the first personal computer, advertised for $750 in Scientific American. Designed by John V. Blankenbaker using standard medium-scale and small-scale integrated circuits, the Kenbak-1 relied on switches for input and lights for output from its 256-byte memory. In 1973, after selling only 40 machines, Kenbak Corp. closed its doors.
  • HP-35

The HP-35 distinguished itself from its competitors by its ability to perform a broad variety of logarithmic and trigonometric functions, to store more intermediate solutions for later use, and to accept and display entries in a form similar to standard scientific notation.
  • 1st of IBM Family Computers

The IBM System/360, the world's first
family of computers that are fully compatible
in terms of software instructions and
    hardware, is introduced.
  • Amiga 1000

Very important personal computer. One of the most advanced of it's time. Had better graphics and sound quality than any PC before it.
  • Dell PC

In 1985, Dell introduced its first computer, the "Turbo PC."
  • The Iomega Zip Disk is released

The initial Zip system allowed 100MB to be stored on a cartridge roughly the size of a 3 ½ inch floppy disk. Later versions increased the capacity of a single disk from 100Mbytes to 2GB.
  • Dell

Rose to top when IBM had taken out many other competitors. Was most used by creative professionals, like those who made computer graphics.
  • Mac Book

One of the best computers of today. Used by creative professionals such as those involved in graphic design or music production.
