The Overview of Slavery In the Virginia Colonies (Part 1)
Englishmen were moving into the colonies, some as indentured servants, some as free men. They brought slavery with them, but is was different. Slaves came and served for 20 years and then were freed with the same rights as white men. The race for social statis was still on though.

Anthoney Johnson is Freed and Aquires Land and Crop (Part 1)
Anthony spent 20 years in bondage working for his master. His master played an old Roman tradition where he let the slave slowly get crop and livestock until they can buy themselves out of freedom. He served 20 years, the maxim amount of years a baptised slave could serve, Then left with his wife and with plenty of land and money to start farming. This shows progress for slaves because freed african has just as much liberty as any other person. He can do anything a white man can.

Anthony wins Court Case Against White Man (Part 1)
After losing his slave to a white man earlier in the year, Anthony returns to court to get back his slave. After another grinding court case, he wins and gets his slave back from the whiteman. This shows progress for the slaves because a nego has just won a court case against a white man which shows he has just as many rights as that whiteman. It also shows that he could buy and own slaves which means he is treated, law wise, an equal person as white men.

Law after law, slaves were slowly denied freedom and eventually defined as property and finnaly defined as non-human.
  • Slaves can't be Freed by Baptisim

Slaves can't be Freed by Baptisim
The Siete Pardidas laws which used to free slaves after around 20 years were abolished after the passing of this law. Now slaves were in a tight loop hole in which only if you were freed by your master, could you ever see liberty again. This shows diminishing progress because now slaves can't really get out from bondage now. They aren't indentured servants now but truly slaves.
  • No Negro or Indian Can Buy Slaves (Part 2)

No Negro or Indian Can Buy Slaves (Part 2)
This shows diminishing progress because now that hope of freedom and even victory against the white men has gone to nothing for now that small begining can never happen. It also shows that now free negros and even indians do not have as many rights as white men.

No Negro or Indian Can Buy Slaves (Part 1)
Before, Indians and Negros could buy slaves and free them after which resulted in an increased population of free slaves which also might eventually buy slaves and free them which creates a endless spiral. This might eventually result in a negro population so high that they might revolt and win agianst the white men.

This law proclames that any slave is not to be considered human but to be considered as an object or an animal. They are no longer human by law and can be passed down as property in a will. A person is alud to torture or kill any slave if he wishes as long as the slave his property.
  • What Happened Here?

    What Happened Here?
Anthoney made a succesful living as a free african american but his children suffered the worst. They lost many rights all in a few years time. All these laws came still slowly but effectively so that the african americans would not notice the sudden change and revolt against the white men. The slaves suffered terribly for years until the civil war ended but this scenario proves that slaves were not always as we think of them.
  • What Happened Here (Part 2)

    What Happened Here (Part 2)
When slavery was first brought to america, the slaves were released by law after around 20 years. Think of what it would be like to see all the rights you had slowly taken away from you until there were no more left. Think of what it would be like to be a slave during that time.
  • What Happens Next?

    What Happens Next?
The future of slaves was dark for many years. They suffered many long years until slaves were freed by law. This could be the future for many things. When you pass laws over time or if you do things over time, a lot of people don't notice where they are heading. You have to be careful so things like this don't happen in the future. The slaves are a perfect example of this, always be catious of where things are heading, never asume it will stop.
