  • Sharing is caring... (School)

    Sharing is caring... (School)
I learned the importance of sharing while I was in daycare. This is a schooling agent. While in daycare they taught me to share by punishing me when I took another person's toy or told me that we can take turns that way we both can use the toy. Sharing is extremely important now because it is a basic tool that you use in your everyday life like sharing the computer at home or taking turns riding in the front seat. If I didn't have sharing I would have been a selfish, mean child.
  • I Can Talk! (Family)

    I Can Talk! (Family)
Learning to talk was a fundemental step in my learning process. My family helped me accomplish this by talking around me and telling me things like no or mama. Without speech I would be unable to do normal, everyday activities. We need the ability to talk because it helps us communicate our wants and needs. Without my family I would have been unable to communicate now and in everyday situations.
  • Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? (Mass Media)

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? (Mass Media)
My favorite book when I was a baby was Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Eric Carle. This book is an example of how mass media has impacted my life. Eric Carle's book gave me a love for reading and analyzing. I was able to understand what I was reading and look at the pictures to understand more about the scene happening in the book. While reading this book I was able to know what was happening next and was able to memorize because of the repeated patterns that are in the book.
  • Little Friends (Peer)

    Little Friends (Peer)
Having friends is vital in the growing process because friends gave me someone who was my age to talk and compare myself to. I needed my peer group to grow and to continue growing because they help you learn in a different way. Without a peer group I would be unable to talk to my peers or get along with people who are different than myself. My friends helped me to learn to share and to talk with peers that are my own age.
  • TODDLER TO SCHOOL AGE

    TODDLER TO SCHOOL AGE
This is the second stop of Agents of Socialization. This ranges from the ages of 3 to the age of 5 or toddler to school age.
  • Birthday Party! (Peer)

    Birthday Party! (Peer)
My birthday party was a way for me to get together with friends that are in my age group. A party allowed me to talk and have fun with my friends in a fun enviroment. The party forced me to go out of my comfort zone of only being with my parents to playing with kids my own age. Without this agent I would be severely lacking in my social skills and it would hinder my ability to be able to make my decisions. This party was my choice on where I wanted it and who I wanted to be invited to it.
  • Favorite TV Show (Mass Media)

    Favorite TV Show (Mass Media)
Barney was my absolute favorite tv show. I would wait for what seemed like hours for Barney to come on. Barney taught me vital things like sharing, cleaning up after myself, and even how to make a sandwich. Barney is a great role model and he uses catchy songs to make kids learn. After I was done watching Barney I would always pick my toys well singing his song, clean up, clean up, everybody, everywhere!
  • You're a Big Sister!

    You're a Big Sister!
Abigail Ann Boone was born on April 27, 2001 to a very patient big sister who waited years to get a sister that she could dress up and boss around. I told everyone who would listen that I was getting a little sister even though my parents wanted to be surprised so they didn't even know if I really was going to have a little sister. Let's just say that everybody was surprised when it turned out that I was right all along and I got the little sister I had always dreamed of!
  • Blue is a Boy Color! Pink is for Me! (Family)

Blue is a Boy Color! Pink is for Me! (Family)
My family had to teach my girl-oriented brain that even though blue was a boyish color it still could be used for girls even though boys wear it, girls could to. This learning helped me in later years because I was able to stop being prejudice and was able to just look at things with an unbiased mind. This is a vital part of the learning system because you will be able to look past certain things and get over them.
  • All God's Children Preschool (School)

    All God's Children Preschool (School)
Preschool taught me how to get along with other kids and prepared me for a school enviroment. Preschool is a mix between daycare and learning. In preschool I was able to learn through painting and play with dolls. I was able to learn at my own pace and still do the things that I like to do at home. I really like preschool and I liked learning at my own pace.
  • DEFINING MOMENTS FROM ELEMENTRY SCHOOL

    DEFINING MOMENTS FROM ELEMENTRY SCHOOL
This is the third stop for Agents of Socialization. The ages for this is 5 to 11 or your defining moments from elementry school.
  • My BFF, Katie Marie Hamiliton

    My BFF, Katie Marie Hamiliton
Katie and I have always been good friends from the start. Friends help us have someone to compare ourselves to. Without friends I would not be who I am today. My friends give me someone to talk to that is not a parent or family. They also help me at school. Katie and I always sat together and we always had play dates. This is a vital part of growing up because it helps you learn to survive outside of a protected, family enviroment.
  • A,B,C,D,? (School)

    A,B,C,D,? (School)
Kindergarten helped me learn my alphabet, without the alphabet I would be unable to read. I love to read and I am so glad that my kindergarten teacher, Mrs. House, was able to put up with me long enough to help me learn the difference between my c's which sounded the k's and my k's which always sounded like k's! Without this vital learning experience I would be unable to live in the world that is full of letters.
  • Family Christmas (Family)

    Family Christmas (Family)
Celebrating Christmas as a family has always been a huge event in my family. I have learned so many traditions that I will continue throughout my life through my children. My family has taught me that even though we all live all over the country we can still be a tight knit family. We get together every Christmas at the three houses, my two aunt's or my house. We always have the same food and we always do a White Christmas. I love my family so much!
  • Best Book Ever Made! (Mass Media)

Best Book Ever Made! (Mass Media)
I first read Harry Potter in the third grade. This book was the reason why I became such an amazing reader. Without this book I would have had mediocre grades and no real desire to learn. After I read this book I read like crazy. Anything I could get my hands on I would read. I now love school and not just because of my friends, I love school because I can learn and read. Harry Potter helped me become who I am today through giving me a desire to read and learn more.
  • MIDDLE SCHOOL

    MIDDLE SCHOOL
This is the fourth stop of Agents of Socialization. This goes all through your adventures of middle school.
  • Rest in Peace, Grandma<3 (Family)

    Rest in Peace, Grandma<3 (Family)
My grandma was my role model, my favorite person. She passed away after a brief battle of her colon. I loved my grandma with all of my heart and her passing was really hard on my family. I had to learn how to live through such a tramatic event and to remember that my grandma is always and will always be with me. She was the glue that held my family together and without her we have a harder time but we will get better over time and will always remember her and her love for life!
  • Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. (School)

Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. (School)
My Leadership Conference was a way for me to take learning to the next level. I spent a week all by myself in Washington D.C. learning about ways that I can help lead the world to greatness. I learned how to be assertive and how to stick up for myself. This didn't teach me math or science, it taught how to be a better person by myself without using my parents as a support system.
  • Wicked: The Broadway Musical (Mass Media)

Wicked: The Broadway Musical (Mass Media)
Wicked was the second Broadway Musical I had seen yet and it made me find my love for music and acting. I love how the characters become someone other than themselves. I would find it quite refreshing to play someone different, it would be like looking at the world through another person's eyes. I realized my love for musicals and plays because of Wicked!
  • Hello, Camille Marie Boman (Peer)

    Hello, Camille Marie Boman (Peer)
Camille is a vital friend! Before Camille moved to Cedar Rapids I felt out of place and kind of like a floater. As soon as Camille moved here we found a group of friends who all shared our same interest. My peer group allowed me to see the value of friends and how good it feels to have someone other then my parents support me and help me through everything. I love my friends and I am thankful for them each and every day!
