    Transatlantic / Triangular Slave Trade
There isn't an exact time when the Triangular Slave Trade started but they do know it began in the 1600s and ended in the 1900s. It was between three continents; Europe, America and Africa. The first trip was from Europe-Africa. They carried supplies which they could sell, like copper or guns. The second trip was from Africa-America. These ships carried slaves. The slaves were treated terribly and lots of them died on the way. The last trip was from America-Europe. They carried stuff like sugar.
  • Slavery Abolition USA

    Slavery Abolition USA
Many countries had abolished slavery before the USA but it made a massive difference when America set the slaves free. About 40,000 slaves were released. It's official name was The Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution which abolished all slavery unless it was punishment for a crime. This was one of the first acts in America that started showing signs of equality for people of all races. This was all mostly down to Abraham Lincoln, one of the former presidents.
  • Montgomery Bus Boycott

    Montgomery Bus Boycott
In the 1950s racism was a big problem. In 1955 a black lady named Rosa Parks got arrested when she refused to give up her seat on a bus for a white person. A flyer was handed out in the black community of Montgomery, persuading people to not go on any buses so they wouldn't be able to run. The boycott ended on the 20 December 1956. Montgomery made a law that black people could now sit wherever they wanted on buses. This improved how black people were treated in the USA.

  • USA's First Black President

    USA's First Black President
Barack Obama, the 44th president of the States, was the USA's first black president. It was a massive deal for black Americans. It shows how much times have changed, in the 1600s they were being used and abused as slaves, in the 1960s they weren't allowed on the same buses as white people and now in 2009 they had elected someone who was black to run the country! As time has gone on black people have started to become treated better and better but unfortunately racism still exists to this day.
