    Spanish conquistadors arrived in the islands of Hispaniola. They stole gold and special ornaments that belonged to the Native Americans and made them to pan for more gold. The Spanish forced the Native Americans to convert to Christianity.The conquistadors would also kill natives who disobeyed their orders. The Spanish had strong weapons and immunity to disease. These diseases spread to the Native Americans from the Spanish, causing a mass death of Native Americans
