    Hoover pressing the button for the White House to turn the lights on at the Empire State Building (which had been newly built), symbolized the nation that even though the stock market had crashed and there was little hope to be found, Americans still longed for the American Dream

    This quote by FDR,really emulates what America has gone through. He announced this at his Fourth Inaugural Address in 1945, during the end of World War 2, a time of great hardship. In the years to come, America bounced back and citizens enjoyed a time of prosperity.
