  • The first laptop computer

    In 1981, the first laptop computer, the Osborne 1, was invented by Adam Osborne. It was considered to be the first true mobile computer. It cost about $1,800, had a 5-inch screen and weighed about 25 pounds. This was a major turning point for computers because people no longer had to be in the same place to use a computer.
  • Lisa personal computer

    In 1983 Apple came out with the Lisa personal computer. This computer was geared more towards business users.
  • Turbo PC

    Turbo PC

    Dell created this computer with a price point of approximately $800. It was much faster than the IBM PCs at the time, with less cost.
  • Windows Operating system

    Windows 1.0 was invented by Bill Gate and was the first public version of windows released. This was huge because it allowed people to have a calendar, calculator, notepad and so much more, which we take for granted now.
  • World wide web

    World wide web

    The world wide web was invented by Timothy Berners-lee and Robert Cailliau. Although it wasn't used by the public until the 90's, it was the start for being able to share information in a more efficient manner.
