Invented and used by NCR mainframes, CRAM was used for secondary storage. Mylar cards were suspended on rods, and one at a time were dropped and processed. CRAM only recorded about 5.5 MB on it 256 cards.

The AGC, designed by scientists and engineers at MIT’s Instrumentation Laboratory, was used to decrease the size of the Apollo spacecraft computer significantly. This computer went from weight of 7 refrigerators, to a device that only weighed 70 pounds.
