Technology in the 1920's

  • THE 1101

    THE 1101
This was one of the first computer designs that started the idea of high-speed computing and storage. It was used in a completely different way then we use now, comparing to wifi and icloud. Invented by Remington-Rand.
  • Squee: The Robot Squirrel

    Squee: The Robot Squirrel
Although we don't use anything like this anymore, i do believe it is similar to what high school kids in robotics club would build and compete with. I think it's amazing that we still do that and this model was created in 1951 by Edmund Berkeley. This computer uses sensors and switches to hunt for nuts and tennis balls.
  • A-O

    A-O
Grace Hopper developed a program that used english words rather than numbers. This is probably one of the biggest enhancements to computer development as we wouldn't be doing near what we do now if computers were still used for mathematics.
  • Keyboard input to compters

    Keyboard input to compters
Back in the day, before keyboards people would use punch cards or paper tape to input information into a computer. Keyboards are beyond normal to us now, advancing on to wireless, bluetooth, and even talk to type features. This was created by researchers at MIT.
  • Digital Phone Lines

    Digital Phone Lines
This is when phone companies created phone lines. Giving the capability to put more calls on each of the main lines using switching centers. I can't imagine this is anything similar to like what we use anymore. However the same concept, just using more of the cloud and satellites.
