Technologies Used In Planning Stages

  • Blogger

    Blogger
The very first technology we used was the website blogger. We were all familiar with it from last year so we knew how to use it effectively. Blogger has almost been the core technology of the project and I have used it to display all the work that I have been doing. I have done this by simply typing and adding pictures to a blog post or by embedding from various other websites. I have also used Blogger to look back at previous posts and keep track of my work and all the stages.
  • Sites Used For Research

    Sites Used For Research
We used Youtube for research into the song that we want to make a music video for after we had decided on a genre. Youtube was easy to navigate through as we typed in a song from the genre, listened to it, noted it and then along the side bar of the website, other similar songs are suggested which we also listened to.
  • YouGov Profiler LITE

    YouGov Profiler LITE
We used YouGov Profiler LITE to establish our target audience. We searched up artists that are similar to ours and noted their target audience (age, gender, interests) which helped us to decide on a target audience for our artist.
  • Google

    Google
we used google to research similar artists, it is easy to view all the images associated with the artist, for example, album covers, music video stills and websites and this helped us plan ahead for the ancillary texts.
  • Candi Media Blog

    Candi Media Blog
We used the candi media blog to research previous students videos and analyse them based on how it follows codes and conventions of its genre. The blog also had resourves available such as the blogging checklist which we could refer back to.
  • Camera

We used the camera very early on to record a lip sync video. It was a good way to refresh our memories on how to operate it, for example, making sure it is in focus and no filter is applied when not necessary. We were also able to experiment with a music video style of filming and understand how to film base tracks so that we know what to do for our final video.
  • Adobe Premiere Pro

    Adobe Premiere Pro
We used this editing software to edit our lip sync video. To us, this was a new software as we used a different one last year so it was important to get to grips with how to use it properly for example how to layer up base tracks and cut between them.
  • Windows Movie Maker

    Windows Movie Maker
I used this software at home to analyse existing music videos from the same genre as our artist. I used it by adding annotations throughout the whole video about how our video will differe and which parts we are inspired to use. I also did this for the original video for our song.
  • Gabrielle Aplin's Website

    Gabrielle Aplin's Website
We visited her website a number of times for research. She is the original artist of our song choice and we wanted to see how she is portrayed and whether her website and videos follow the codes and conventions of other folk genre artists.
  • ThingLink

We used this website to create a moodboard for our artist, we uploaded images that we thought would work well with our artist for example possible costume and synergy. The website then let us annotate these images so that we were able to explain why we we wanted our artist to be wearing something similar or portrayed in a similar way.
  • storyboardthat.com

    storyboardthat.com
We used this website to create our animatic storyboard. There were clear strips of storyboard and we were able to use the site existing images to put together images of what our music video will look like and then add text to describe what will be happening and how it will be filmed. When finished, we were able to embed it on the blog.
  • timetoast.com

    timetoast.com
We used this website to create a production schedule. We were able to add events to dates to plan ahead and state what we will be doing/filming that day, the time we will meet and finish and who will be bringing and taking back equipment/props. We were able to come back to the production schedule and edit it if we needed to.
  • Prezi.com

We used Prezi to present our group pitch. We were able to all add slides into the presentation from home as we all completed our own seperate tasks and then added them all together. This website also let us play our song choice quietly in the background as we were presenting which helped our audience get a feel of the song and how it would work with our ideas.
