    A year after Charles came to the throne, the French revolution began. The king hope that he can stop the liberal ideas but the french army defeat spain(1793-1795). This make a change of strategy by Manuel Godoy. He made an alliance with Napoleon,

    the presence of French troops in Spain and the intrigues of Ferdinand againsthis father led to the popular Mutiny of Aranjuez(1808). As a result, Ferdinand was king.
